About coding forms
Coding Forms provide reviewers with the ability to view and edit document fields. Review Managers or higher roles can add, edit, or delete the Coding Forms and also associate a Coding Form with new assignments for review. You can add fields to a Coding Form, make fields read-only or mandatory, and control field visibility and requirements by using conditional coding rules. You can allow reviewers to add values to single or multiple-choice fields when reviewing documents. You can also set up coding propagation on single-choice, multiple-choice, or short text fields if Review Manager or higher roles enable propagation in Project Settings.
Conditional coding lets you define rules that control when fields appear or are mandatory based on values selected in other fields. When reviewers change a coded value, the form updates in real time to reflect the configured conditions.
When you create a project, the system provides a Default Coding Form. As needed, you can tag documents with the fields and values in the Default Coding Form, just as you can with coding forms you create. Review Managers or higher roles can edit or delete the Default Coding Form as needed.
In Coding Forms, some system fields are read-only by default, and you cannot make these fields editable. There are also default coding fields that you can use in coding forms. If you need to create a field to use in a form, create the field in Project Settings>Project Fields.
When reviewing documents in the assigned batch, Reviewers and Senior Reviewers can tag documents by coding the fields in the Coding Form associated with their batch. Using Search Builder, you use these fields and field values in searches to refine the set of documents to use for a particular action, such as a Document Action or Production.
Note that when you reprocess documents with the Extract Attachment option selected, Epiq Discover deletes attachments (child documents) before replacing them. For the attached documents, the file hash and sequence portion of the document number can change. In addition, all existing metadata for the attachments, including coding, are deleted and reset.
