Personal information detection

This function helps you to identify sensitive information like Personally Identifiable Information (PII)/Protected Health Information (PHI) when promoting the documents.

PII is any information that can be used to identify an individual, either directly or indirectly. The following list provides examples for PII.

  • Name

  • Home address

  • Email address

  • Phone number

  • Government‑issued ID, such as SSN and passport number.

PHI is health‑related information that identifies an individual, created, used, or maintained in the context of healthcare. The following list provides examples for PHI.

  • Medical record numbers

  • Diagnosis or treatment information

  • Health insurance details

  • Lab results

  • Any PII combined with health information

Once the PII/PHI is identified, the system displays the information types like Name, Address, and Social Security Number in the PII Entities Likely and PII Entities Potential fields.

You can modify the PII/PHI detection settings using the Enable PII/PHI Detection checkbox and PII/PHI Confidence Level Cap field in the Project Settings. Refer to Modify PII detection settings for more information. The PII/PHI Confidence Level Cap is the maximum confidence score of a specific PII/PHI that is detected in a document.

You can view the status of the PII/PHI Detection job in the Jobs Overview page. If the system fails to detect PII/PHI, the Exception field displays ''PII Detection Not Completed''.
