Add custodians
A custodian is the owner of a data set during a particular phase of discovery. As needed, you can create one custodian at a time or you can use Bulk Create Custodians to create up to 100 custodians at once. When using bulk create, you download a template CSV file, enter the information for each new custodian, and then upload the file.
Perform the following procedure to create custodians.
- To create a single custodian, perform the following steps.
In the Project page, click and then select .
In the left pane, click .
Click .
In the dialog box, perform the following actions.
In First Name, enter a first name.
Optional. In Last Name, enter a last name.
Click Create.

To create multiple custodians at a time, perform the following steps. You can create a maximum of 100 custodians with each bulk create action.

In the Project page, click and then select .

In the left pane, click .

Click Bulk Create Custodians.

In the Bulk Create Custodians dialog box, perform the following actions:

Click Download CSV Template. The bulk_create_custodians.csv file appears at the bottom of the page. Epiq Discovery saves the file to your Downloads folder.

Click the file at the bottom of the page to open it.

For each new custodian, type the following custodian information in a row in the file.

First Name. Enter a first name. Make sure the name does not contain these characters: ; , : ? ! " / \ | ( ) < > * %.

Last Name. Optional. Enter a last name, avoiding the same special characters listed above.

Save the bulk_create_custodians.csv file.

When your saved template file is complete, return to the Bulk Create Custodians dialog box.

In File, select your file by navigating it (by default, it is located in your Downloads folder).

Click Create.
